The standard bridge ordering of Anglo-American suits is the order of value of the four Anglo-American suits from highest to lowest, as valued in the card game contract bridge. From highest to lowest, the ordering is spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs. A common memory trick for the ordering is that it is in alphabetical order from lowest to highest. The first and second in the ordering are known as the major suits, the third and fourth are known as the minor suits. The first and fourth in the ordering are known as the black suits, the second and third are known as the red suits. The first and third in the ordering are known as the upper suits, the second and fourth are known as the lower suits.
